Introduction and certificates

Purpose of the guide

Allow users to understand why a message may appear warning the user that Google servizi (and others) can be dangerous and how to prevent it from appearing again.

Introduction and certificates

In order to guarantee ever greater security for schools, access to Google servizi (including gmail, YouTube,…) is also filtered by Swisscom.

This implies that the security certificates provided by Swisscom are installed on every device that uses the schools' internet connection. These certificates must be installed in the operating system (whether it is Windows, macOS or Linux) and if you are using third-party applications (for example Firefox), the certificates must also be installed in these applications.

The certificates required for Google to function properly are the following two:

ZscalerRootCertificate-2048

ZscalerRootCertificate-2048-SHA256

If that doesn't work, you can download the compressed certificates in an archive directly from the Swisscom website ( click here ).
