Purpose of the guide
It explains to users how to interact from MS Teams to external users with Skype for Business.
Prerequisites
To be able to apply this setting, you need to:
- Own a license of MS Teams
- The user you want to contact must be authorized to receive messages from MS Teams from their site administrator
Send messages to Skype for Business users from Teams
Anyone who uses Skype for Business, if they have been authorized by their IT administrator, will be able to receive messages sent from Teams.
Just search for them in Teams by their username, type your message, and send it. A Skype for Business icon will appear next to the chat in the chat list.
Group chat with Skype for Business users
Unfortunately, it is not possible to send group messages to users who use Skype for Business. However, whenever someone invites you to a group conversation from Skype for Business, you'll get a notification in Teams. You will then be able to rejoin the conversation in Skype for Business.
Skype for business vs Teams
Being able to chat with someone in Skype for Business from Teams is pretty cool, but you'll be missing out on fun things like emojis, attached files, and tabs.
